The UPPSC examination will consist three successive stages: -

1. UPPSC – Preliminary Examination (Objective Type & MCQs)
2. UPPSC – Main Examination (Conventional, Subjective type)
3. UPPSC- Viva Voce ( Interview Round)

UPPSC Preliminary Examination: -

The first stage of the UP-PCS exam is the Prelims. This exam is conducted to screen the best candidates to appear for the Mains exam. UPPSC Prelims pattern comprises two papers: General Studies 1 and General Studies 2.

#NOTE- General Studies-2 is qualifying in nature.

• The UPPSC Prelims pattern also mentions a negative marking which will be applied to GS Papers 1 and 2.
• For every wrong answer, 1/3rd of the marks allotted to the question shall be deducted. However, there is no negative marking for unattempt questions

Summary: The exam will consist of two compulsory examination papers which will be answered on OMR sheets. The exam will be of 200 marks each, and the time duration will be 2 hours. Both the papers will be objective type & multiple choice questions. The no. of questions will be 150 and 100 questions respectively.

UPPSC PAPER 1 - General Studies:

Latest current affairs, national movement, geography of India, National & International level geography, Indian politics and government, Indian economics & social development, Ecology, General science relating with recent occurrences.

UPPSC Paper 2 – General Studies:

Logical reasoning, Interpersonal skills, communication skills, Logical reasoning and analytics ability, Decision making and problem solving, analytical abilities, Elementary

Mathematics up-to Class X level:

1. Algebra : LCM & HCF of polynomials, Factors of polynomials, Remainder theorem exercises, linear equations, quadratic equations
2. Set Theory: Null set, subsets and proper sub-sets, operations like union, intersections, difference, symmetric differences.
3. Geometry: Constructions and theorems of triangle, square, rectangle, circles, sphere, semi-spheres. Volume & Surface area of sphere, right circular cylinder, cone and cube.
4. Statistics : Collection of data, data classification, frequency, cumulative frequency, tabulation, representation of data – Bar diagram, Pie Chart, histogram, frequency polygon, cumulative frequence curves (ogives) measure of central tendencies : Mean, Median and Mode

UPPSC MAIN (Subject Examination): -

The UPPSC Mains is the 2nd stage of the UPPSC PCS selection process. Candidates who clear the Prelims exam shall be called to appear for the Mains, the most important exam. There shall be 8 papers as per the updated UPPSC exam pattern for Mains.

#Note: UPPSC MAIN examination is for those candidates who have been short-listed from the UPPSC Preliminary Examination.

The Government approved the proposal of removing the optional subject and instead of it, two papers will be introduced in the UPPSC main exam 2024.

UPPSC INTERVIEW ROUND:

This will be the last round of UPPSC examination for the students who have qualified UPPSC-MAINS examination. They will be called for the Personnel Interview round.

• The main purpose of the interview is to check the participant’s suitability for the career in the state services by the help of board and examiners of competent and unbiased observers.
• In this interview, apart from their academic study, participants must be aware of the affairs happening within the state, country, or outside the country
• The interview will check your mental ability, quality of speech, analytical ability, and your way of handling situations and replies
