The MPPSC State Service Examination 2024 consists of three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. Here is a breakdown of the exam pattern for each stage:

 (i) MPPSC Preliminary Examination (Objective Type-Multiple Choice Questions) 

(ii) MPPSC Main Examination 

(iii) Personality Test or Interviews.

The MPPSC preliminary examination shall consist of two papers of objectives types (Multiple Choice Questions) and each paper shall be of two hours duration carrying 200 marks each.

(a) General Studies -   Paper-I   -   200 marks
(b) General Aptitude Test -  Paper-II   -   200 marks

Prelims Exam Pattern:

• The Prelims exam consists of two papers: General Studies and General Aptitude Test.
• Both papers are objective type and are conducted online.
• Each paper is of 2 hours duration and carries 200 marks.
• The General Studies paper consists of 100 questions, each carrying 2 marks.
• The General Aptitude Test paper also consists of 100 questions, each carrying 2 marks.
• There is no negative marking in the Prelims exam.

Candidates, who will qualify in the MPPSC Preliminary Examination, shall be called by the Commission, to appear in the Main Examination.

• The qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination shall be such as may be fixed by the Commission. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination shall not be counted for ranking.
• Candidates who obtain such minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination as may be fixed by the Commission at their discretion shall be called for personality test. The personality test or interview shall carry 175 Marks and no minimum qualifying marks for personality test or interview shall be fixed.
• Total marks thus obtained by the candidates in the written examination and personality test or interview would determine their ranking. Candidates shall be allotted to the various services keeping in view their ranks in the examination and the preferences indicated by them for various services.
• In the Preliminary Examination, candidates shall be awarded marks for the correct response to each question.
• There will be no negative marking in MPPSC (State Service Exam) Prelims exam for wrong answers.
• More than one response in any question shall be treated as a wrong response and marks for such a wrong response shall be deducted if one of the responses happened to the incorrect response.

Mains Exam Pattern:

• The main exam consists of six papers.
• All papers are descriptive type and are conducted offline.
• Each paper carries 300 marks.
• The duration of each paper is 3 hours.

The six papers are as follows:-

Paper 1: General Studies I

Paper 2: General Studies II

Paper 3: General Studies III

Paper 4: General Studies IV

Paper 5: General Hindi

Paper 6: Essay Writing

Interview:

• Candidates who qualify for the Mains exam are called for an interview.
• The interview carries 175 marks.
• The interview is conducted to assess the candidate's personality, communication skills, and knowledge of current affairs.
