EXAM PATTERN OF FMGE (SCREENING TEST) EXAM: -

Exam Format:

• Computer-based test (CBT)
• Multiple-choice questions (MCQs)

Exam Duration:

• 300 minutes (5 hours)

Exam Pattern:

• Part A: 100 MCQs
  • Subjects: Preclinical subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine)
  • Weightage: 40%
• Part B: 200 MCQs
  • Subjects: Clinical subjects (General Surgery, Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Otorhinolaryngology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Community Medicine)
  • Weightage: 60%

Marking Scheme:

• Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark.
• There is no negative marking for a wrong answer.

Passing Score:

• A candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks (150 marks) to pass the FMGE Screening Test.

Language:

• The FMGE Screening Test is conducted in English only.

Exam Centers:

• The FMGE Screening Test is conducted at various exam centers across India.

• Candidates can choose their preferred exam center while filling the application form. The NBE will allocate the exam center based on the availability of seats.

Documents Required at the Exam Center:

• Admit Card
• Valid photo ID proof (passport, driving license, voter ID card, etc.)

Allocation of time for the FMGE shall be as follows: 

Note: FMGE is divided into two parts of 150 questions each with time allocation of 150 minutes for each part. There is a scheduled break between the two parts.    

• The question paper for each part of FMGE will be divided into multiple time bound sections. For example, if there are 3-time bound sections* (Section A, B & C) in each part of the question paper, each such section will have 50 questions and 50 minutes of time allotted for the section

An FMGE applicant shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 50% of marks in the examination. 

Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed at the website and office of NBE. Marks obtained shall be declared for all the candidates and also displayed at the website www.natboard.edu.in. 

The applicants who qualify the Screening Test may apply to the Medical Council of India, New Delhi or to any State Medical Council for provisional registration /permanent registration.

There are no restrictions on the number of attempts that can be availed by an FMGE SCREENING TEST applicant. However, FMGE being a qualifying examination, once a candidate qualifies for the FMGE, he/she shall not be eligible to take the FMGE again.

• Practice regularly with mock tests and previous year's question papers.
• Familiarize yourself with the CBT format and answer selection process.
• Ensure you have a good understanding of the FMGE syllabus.
• Get adequate sleep and eat a healthy breakfast before the exam.
• Stay calm and focused during the exam.
